What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with the Director to develop and execute short and long-term work plans, manage resources, and achieve strategic objectives.
- Assist the Director in identifying areas for improvement within the Department and formulating, implementing, and enforcing departmental procedures in line with City policies.
- Responsible for oversight and review of the City’s payroll program.
- Assist in the preparation, development, and presentation of the City's annual budget and prepare the Finance Department’s annual budget.
- Oversee the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue and expenditure analysis, payroll management, and finance project administration.
We need someone who:
- Has a 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university (Graduate degree preferred).
- Has a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a public sector organization.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of governmental accounting principles, internal control procedures, public finance, fiscal planning, and compliance with GAAFR, GAAP, and GASB standards.
- Is proficient in preparing and analyzing complex financial reports, maintaining efficient financial systems, and effectively supervising staff.
